A youth and cultural space is to be created in the rooms of the former Zurich Central Laundry (ZWZ). The Zurich City Council has chosen the Central Laundry Association as the operator. Because cost-covering management is not possible due to legal zoning restrictions, the city council applies to the municipal council for a rent waiver and money for the expansion. ) The proposed revenue waiver amounts to 495,000 francs, the cost of the expansion to 550,000 francs, as the city council announced on Wednesday.

The aim is to create a public meeting place for young adults and a place for art and cultural projects in the industrial quarter in District 5 by spring 2021.

The former buildings of the Zurich Central Laundry at Neue Hard 12 and Josefstrasse 219 can be used until at least 2026. The temporary use is organized by the Sports Office and the room exchange of the social services.
